About Our Practice
A Respectful, Personal Touch
Since Dr. Keenan opened his doors in Houston, Texas (1989), our goal has been to treat all patients with the respect that they deserve.
People consider therapy for many reasons – relationship issues; anxiety; PTSD flashbacks; study skills; or a need for expert advice. These are just a few of the possible challenges people just like you are faced with on a daily basis.
Many patients are high functioning but have an unresolved area of their life over which they silently suffer. Others desperately struggle just to get up in the morning and meet the requirements of the day.
Whatever you are experiencing, Dr. Keenan is here to help. His kind, yet straight-forward approach allows for practical solutions while also focusing on the deeper, internal roadblocks that sabotage one’s ability to succeed in all aspects of life.
Remember that therapy is a process, not a one-time fix – although much can be accomplished in a single visit. The length of the process depends upon you. Dr. Keenan is ready to move you as fast as you can comfortably move, and does so with a calm, steady approach.
Telephone therapy and virtual are options available to existing patients when they travel or are re-located to other parts of the U.S. / world.
No issue involving one’s well-being is too big or too small. Our services come with a respectful and personal touch.
What Happens On Your First Visit?
Your first session will focus on understanding your experience, setting small goals, and starting the process of healing — one step at a time.
It will be a relaxed conversation with no pressure and no judgment. Psychologists like Dr. Michael Keenan will ask what brings you in, discuss your goals, and begin shaping a personalized treatment plan.
You’ll have time to share your story, ask questions, and get a feel for whether the psychologist is a good fit. Effective therapy starts with a connection where you feel understood, safe, and supported.
How Long Does Therapy Take to Feel Results?
There’s no single answer for how long therapy takes to “work.” Some clients notice small shifts within a few sessions, while others see therapy as an ongoing investment in growth and self-awareness.
Consistency is key. Regular sessions and openness to the process create the foundation for meaningful change.
